As well as saving you money by offering you great discounts, here are some helpful tips you can use to keep your heating bills down, and do your bit for the environment.
- Much of the heat loss from a house occurs through the windows. Keep the curtains closed at night, even in empty rooms. Also ensure that the curtains don’t hang over the radiator, as that will just funnel the heat out the window.
- Many thermostats are set too too high. Check that yours isn’t above 20oC, if it is, turn it down. Lowering your thermostat by 1 Degree will knock 10% off your heating bill.
- Make full use of the timers on your immersion or boiler, and have them on only when they’re needed. Did you know – you can get a €560 heating controls upgrade grant – see the SEAI website for more details.
